Sightseeing third class passengers crowd Titanic’s stern as the tender, “America”, approaches. This photograph also shows the small figure of a dirty stoker at the top of the aft funnel - he had climbed the inside of the dummy funnel for a good view of the Irish port of Queenstown. A few superstitious passengers took his black appearance to be a bad omen; from below he looked like a spectre of death.
This photograph was taken from the tender “America”, as she approached the port gangway, by Mr Whyte of Queenstown. He later gave this image to Father Browne for his lecturers.
Father Browne notes in his diary, ‘The owner of this album is the centre figure of the three immediately forward of the four after boats, on the boat deck.’
These images of Titanic have been restored for the Centenary by one of Ireland’s best known commercial photographic companies, Davison & Associates Ltd of Dublin who manage the Irish Picture Library.
Giclée printing has quickly become the standard choice among art galleries and museums as the preferred method for reproducing artwork whilst retaining the highest possible quality standards. There are also benefits in terms of the longevity, and colour-fastness of the prints - which is why we use the Giclée process at The Collectable Art Company.
The print is signed by Edwin or David Davison of The Irish Photographic Library. They are responsible for the renovation of these images and are Members of The Irish Professional Conservators & Restorers Association and Irish Professional Photographers Association.
This print is accompanied by an ‘R.M.S. Titanic Centenary Limited Edition 1912-2012 booklet’. This 28 page lavishly illustrated publication also includes reproductions of some Father Browne’s original photograph album pages including his hand written notes and photographs of the images that form this Centenary Limited Edition Collection.
Your Certificate of Authenticity is your lifetime guarantee that your print has been produced to The Fine Art Trade Guild Standards with 100% pigmented inks tested to last over 75 years without noticeable fade, on acid free archival fine art papers. It clearly confirms the size of the edition and that the signature is genuine.
