Our business professionals have a diverse range of skills in Business and Event Management particularly licensing, production design and development, marketing and exhibition.

 

Grahame Flynn - Managing Director

Grahame founded The Collectable Art Company in July 2011.

From an early age Grahame had a keen interest in his local theatre where he worked as a lighting and sound technician. He had a particular love for design, particularly in film and television and The History of Art.

He started his career at The Longleat Safari Park before becoming personal assistant to Mary Chipperfield in a Spanish touring Circus. He returned to the United Kingdom to start a twelve year career as a Police Officer. During this time he acted a Police Advisor to BBC Radio 4's long running series, The Archers. He worked freelance as a researcher on Doctor Who Producer John Nathan-Turner’s highly acclaimed memoirs for The Official Doctor Who Magazine and 'Five Rounds Rapid!' the autobiography of Nicholas Courtney for Virgin Publishing Ltd.

A change in direction in 2000 lead to him producing The Bishopstock Blues Festival with acts including Jules Holland and Van Morrison; and numerous 'Battlefield' Doctor Who Conventions. He Art Directed and acted in numerous productions for BBC, ITV, HBO Boston and Pangaea Television.

For nine years he was employed as the Business Manager for a South West based charity. This gave him the opportunity to produce large scale fundraising events including, 'A Christmas Celebration' at Exeter Cathedral with a choir of 250 and guests including Will Young, Christopher Timothy and Dr Barry Rose OBE. During this period he also designed numerous theatre productions for Stage Electrics, The Elgiva Theatre, J N-TV productions and Centre Stage.

For twenty five years Grahame has collected costume and props and was regularly involved in the Official BBC Doctor Who Exhibitions. He is one of the World's leading experts and collectors of Doctor Who costume and properties.

 

Jeremy Rawlings - Director

Jeremy is the joint founder of The Collectable Art Company.

He has had a diverse career in Bacteriology, Information Technology, menwear wholesale, Musical Theatre and Senior Management within Education. He is now practising in Law.

Jeremy has extensive software and database experience as well as stock control and warehousing. His legal experience is particularly useful in contract negotiations.

Prior to attending University he was the sole proprietor of a Computer Consultancy called Aquarius Computer Services. Jeremy was General Manager for a menswear wholesale firm supplying the whole of the UK.

Jeremy gained further business experience whilst working as a Deputy Headmaster at a proprietary run local independent school assisting the Headmaster in all aspects of the business. He was also Master of the Chapel Choir. Jeremy is one of the region’s most talented Musical Directors having worked in professional and amateur theatre.

Jeremy holds degrees from The University of Exeter, Nottingham Trent University and the University of the West of England and is a qualified Barrister.

 

Alma Swan - Business Development Consultant

Alma Swan is a consultant working in the field of scholarly communication. She is a director of Key Perspectives Ltd and holds honorary academic positions in the University of Southampton School of Electronics & Computer Science and the University of Warwick Business School. Alma is Convenor for Enabling Open Scholarship, the global organisation of universities promoting the principles of open scholarship in the academic community.

Her work covers market research and business modelling, project management and evaluation, research communication practices and behaviours, and the study and promotion of new forms of scholarly communication in the age of the Web. She writes and makes frequent presentations on scholarly communication issues.

Alma has BSc and PhD degrees from the University of Southampton and an MBA from Warwick Business School. She is a Fellow of the Society of Biology (UK) and a Chartered Biologist, is an elected member of the Governing Board of Euroscience (the European Association for the Promotion of Science & Technology) and is the former editor of its online magazine, The Euroscientist.
